C-card scheme
What is the C-Card scheme?
The C-Card scheme is a condom distribution service that gives young people quick and easy access to free condoms.
It is a confidential service which also offers information and advice about relationships, sex and sexual health.
It’s available to anyone aged 13 to 24 living in Norfolk, whether they are having sex, thinking about having sex or are just curious about condoms.
Once young people have a C-Card they can show their card at any C-Card outlet, to access free condoms and lube.
How to get a C-Card
It's easy and free to join the C-Card Scheme. You can get a C-Card (join the scheme) at any C-Card outlet.
- If you're aged 16 to 24, visit a C-Card outlet. It's quick and they will explain the process.
- If you're aged 13 to 15, you'll have a short private chat with a practitioner. They'll check that you are safe and supported with your sexual health choices. This will include a demonstration of how to use a condom and an explanation of the C-Card scheme. After this, you will receive your card.
You'll find C-Card outlets at many youth and community organisations, pharmacies and GP practices.
Lost or misplaced your C-Card
If you have lost or misplaced your C-Card, you can get another C-Card (re-join the scheme) at any C-Card outlet.
What condoms can I have?
You will be given a starter pack when you get your C-Card, which contains some regular, smaller and larger condoms and lube. The pack also contains condom instructions, so you/your partner can check which size condom is right for you.
If you want more free condoms and lube, just show your C-Card at any C-Card outlet to collect more packs.
Just ask for the pack/s you need (each pack contains 6 items):
- regular condoms
- smaller condoms
- larger condoms
- latex free regular size condoms (for those with a latex allergy only)
- lube (water based)
When used correctly, condoms are the only contraception method that prevent both sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy.
